All-new Kia Picanto previewed ahead of Geneva launch

Date: 04 January 2017   |   Author: James Richardson

We've been given our first look at the all-new Kia Picanto city car ahead of its debut at the Geneva motor show in March.

This is the third generation of Kia's smallest car to be launched and, while full details remain sketchy, Kia has let slip that the new Picanto will follow the vogue for greater personalisation options on both the interior and exterior.

Styling-wise, the new Picanto incorporates some familiar themes from other Kia models, including the signature 'tiger nose' grille and familiar strong LED daytime running light graphics in the front light clusters.

Around the back, there are large C-shaped light clusters, while the red trim theme continues along the bottom of the rear bumper. Like all previous iterations of the Kia Picanto, the new car will be available as a five-door only.

Inside, Kia is promising that the new car will have more tech than ever before, and the image shown here shows off a dashboard that's dominated by a large infotainment screen. This is, however, unlikely to be standard on entry-level models. Kia has also said that the new car will be available with with a host of new safety features.

Although there's no official word on what engines will be available, we expect the new car to come with a similar range of 1.0 and 1.2-litre petrol engines as the current model.

Further details of the new Kia Picanto will be announced at the show, and it goes on sale in the spring.
