Alphabet launches virtual handover video guide

Date: 09 March 2016   |   Author: Daniel Puddicombe

Alphabet has launched a 'virtual handover' service for its customers, introducing them to their new car before it arrives.

The third-placed BC50 company said its service will provide the driver with a video guide for their new vehicle two weeks before it is delivered, in what it is claiming is a first for the leasing industry.

The videos will go through key features of the car, including how to operate the fuel filler cap, where to fill up oil and where the handbrake is located - as these vary widely across different brands - in order to help drivers famillarise themselves with their cars before they are delivered.

Virtual handover is available for all cars delivered via Alphabet's network of 26 dealer groups.

The system is currently only available for cars, but has Alphabet confirmed that a similar service is in development for commercial vehicles.

"We're always looking out for ways to do things better or smarter. Through our feedback platform we established that nearly one third of customer concerns stemmed from inconsistencies in the handover of the new vehicle," Matt Sutherland, chief operating officer at Alphabet.

"Our customers and drivers are busy people, they want their vehicles delivered at a time and place convenient to them - their home or workplace or somewhere else, not necessarily collecting it from a dealership," he added.
