Budget 2016: Severn Bridge toll cost to halve

Date: 16 March 2016   |   Author:

From 2018 the Chancellor will halve the price of the Severn river crossing between England and Wales. This means that cars will have to pay £3.30 - rather than £6.60 - to cross one of the Severn bridges linking the countries.

Meanwhile, the charge for LCVs up to 3500kg is set to fall from £13.20 to £6.60. Goods vehicles over 3500kg will see charges fall from £19.80 to £9.90.

The Government is also considering the costs and benefits of introducing a free-flow barrier-free tolling system - something which has already been introduced at the Dartford Crossing in Kent, in an attempt to improve traffic flow.
