BVRLA to launch leasing broker training programme

Date: 20 September 2016

The BVRLA is to launch its Continuous Professional Development training programme for leasing brokers before the end of 2016.

The organisation plans to introduce a series of new courses and revise existing programmes to help members show evidence of CPD and comply with industry regulations.

Speaking to BusinessCar, director of member services Nora Leggett said: "We handle a lot of leasing broker members and we've got a programme that we want to re-energise and redo later this year. We'll be relaunching [the programme] in the final quarter - probably October, November or December.

"We will be refreshing some of our existing programmes and launching some new ones. We're working on
the detail."

Leggett said the programme would aim to help those working in the leasing broker sector comply with Financial Conduct Authority regulations: "Employees working for a regulated service provider are required to keep their knowledge up to date. We're going to indicate how those records can be kept and evidenced as part of the ongoing CPD for individuals."

The decision follows the BVRLA's appointment of Duncan McMillan as learning and development professional earlier this year. His background is in life insurance broking, which is also heavily regulated.
