Aston Martin has signed an agreement with technology company LeEco to develop a range of electric vehicles before the end of the decade.

As part of the agreement with LeEco, Aston Martin will develop and manufacture a production version of the RapidE luxury saloon, which was unveiled in October.

It is expected the production version of the RapidE will come to the market in 2018, while a range of electric vehicles will be launched "during the second half of the year."

Previously, Aston Martin confirmed the company would build the vehicle at its headquarters in Gaydon, with the real-world range extending to around 200 miles.

According to media reports last year, prices are expected to start at around £200,000.

"Aston Martin are dedicated to developing a range of cars with low emission technologies," said Aston Martin CEO, Andy Palmer. "We have been encouraged by the project speed and technical depth shown by Letv in the development of the RapidE concept towards full production."

"Bringing the RapidE to market by 2018 is an important milestone for both companies," he added.
