Facelifted Lexus IS revealed at Paris motor show

Date: 29 September 2016   |   Author: Daniel Puddicombe

Lexus has facelifted its IS upper medium saloon.

Due to go on sale in early 2017, the IS retains its powertrains, with a choice of the IS300h hybrid or IS 200t 2.0-litre petrol.

Emissions for the hybrid have been dropped by 4g/km of CO2, while the official mpg figure has been retained at 65.7mpg. The reduction in CO2 drops it down by a BIK band, meaning it fits into the 16% 2016/17 bracket.

Side

Figures have not been released for the 245hp petrol unit, but the current model emits 167g/km of CO2 and returns 39.2mpg.

Design-wise, the exterior of the vehicle features new headlamps and a new grille and a new rear light and exhaust design.

Inside, the media system's screen size has been increased from seven to 10.25-inches, while an 'enter' button has been added onto the centre console, making it easier to use.

Rear

Safety-wise, the IS incorporates the Lexus Safety System+ suite of active safety technologies that is designed to help prevent or mitigate accidents.

The package includes a pre-crash safety system with a pedestrian function, lane departure warning and an adaptive cruise control function.

UK-specific specification information will be announced closer to the vehicle's on-sale date.
