Toyota has teased its facelifted Hilux pick-up ahead of its European debut at the Geneva motor show next week.

At the moment, Toyota has not revealed any information about what will power the facelifted Hilux, with more details expected to emerge at the show.

The current model is powered by 2.5-litre and 3.0-litre engines, and was last year's best-selling pick-up with 8642 registrations.

Toyota first revealed the Hilux in Australia last year.

In Australia Toyota offers the Hilux with four engines, including two newly-developed turbo diesels: a 2.8-litre and a 2.4-litre unit.

The powertrains are married to new six-speed manual and automatic transmissions.

The manufacturer said payloads would go up to 1240kg (the maximum in the current version is 1060kg) while towing capacity would increase from 2.8-tonnes to 3.5-tonnes to equal the class-leading Isuxu D-max and Ford Ranger models.

In Australia the Hilux is available in both 4x4 and 4x2 guises and in three body styles - single, extra and double cabs.
