Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has revealed a chassis cab version of its Transporter medium van.

Available to order now, with prices starting from £21,265, the vehicle can be specified in either single or double cab variants.

The new model is powered by the firm's 140hp 2.0-litre Euro 5 diesel engine, which can be optioned with either a six-speed manual transmission or a seven-speed DSG gearbox.

A spokeswoman for VW told BusinessCar that Euro 6 engines will be "phased in" throughout the year, before the September cut-off point, for both the panel van Transporter van and the chassis cab version.

VW said the new model is also available to be ordered with a drop-side body directly from the factory, and that the range has been developed to compliment the range of Crafter chassis Transporter conversion cab and drop-side derivatives.

Volkswagen quotes a payload figure of 1339kg for the single cab specification, while the drop-side bodies offer load spaces of 5.2m in single cab form or 4.2m in double cab arrangement.
