Mazda has revealed its new MX-5 RF roadster at the New York motor show, ahead of the model's arrival into the UK next year.
The RF - which stands for 'retractable fastback' - features a retractable hardtop, which the Japanese company claimed "makes the roadster experience more accessible to a broader range of drivers".
The new model will be powered by the same engines as the standard soft-top MX-5 - a 1.5-litre petrol unit and a 2.0-litre petrol motor - which can be mated to either a six-speed automatic or six-speed manual gearbox.
According to Mazda, the roof is able to open and close at speeds of up to 6.2mph. The hardtop does not impact on load capacity either - the firm claimed it offers the same amount of boot space as the soft-top model.
Prices and specifications will be announced closer to the vehicle's launch in this country next year.
