Ford confirms plans for fifth Vignale model in next two years

Date: 03 February 2016   |   Author:

Ford has confirmed that it will launch at least five models under its premium Vignale branding by 2017, as well as new plug-in hybrid, hybrid and full electric models for Europe by 2020.

Vignale launched last year with the Mondeo, while it has confirmed S-max will be next during 2016, and the company will reveal a third model, expected to be the Edge SUV, next month. A Fiesta Vignale is coming with the new model next year, and the company has now confirmed it will be accompanied by another Vignale variant in 2017.

There's no word yet on whether Ford of Britain will take the new hybrid and plug-in models. The company at present has a low-key presence in the electric market with a Focus model, and launched hybrid Mondeo last year, but it doesn't sell the plug-in hybrid C-max available in mainland Europe. More should be confirmed late this year on these technologies.
