Ford has confirmed that its Edge 4x4 will be priced from £29,995 when it arrives in showrooms in the summer.
The new model will be offered with a choice of a 180hp 2.0-litre diesel engine with a six-speed manual gearbox with a more powerful version with 210hp which comes with a automatic gearbox.
Both variants are expected to deliver 48.7mpg and 149g/km of CO2, meaning company car BIK rates of 29%.
The lower powered model is available in Zetec and Titanium trim levels, while the more powerful version comes in sport form.
"It will deliver more room for passengers than large competitor SUVs that cost considerably more. The styling and suite of comfort, convenience and safety technologies in Edge rival the premium offerings available in the UK," said Andy Barratt, chairman and managing director, Ford of Britain.
