Ford targets total mobility provision

Date: 20 April 2016   |   Author:

Ford UK chairman and managing director Andy Barratt has told BusinessCar that while the company is currently an automotive manufacturer, it will "become a provider of mobility solutions".

Recognising that many drivers often have "multimodal" journeys Barratt added: "What we are going to do is provide an end-to-end solution for the customer. You'll be able to arrange your parking, potentially arrange your train and then maybe hail a taxi at the end."

The firm is currently running two mobility trials in London. The GoDrive car-sharing scheme costs 17p per minute,  including fuel, insurance, congestion charging and no membership fee. GoPark, meanwhile, in Islington only, uses sensor technology to direct users to the nearest free space.
