Ford unveils more efficient Kuga off-roader

Date: 25 February 2016   |   Author:

Ford has updated its Kuga off-roader with sharper exterior styling and more efficient engines, including a 1.5-litre diesel motor that is capable of 64.2mpg and 115g/km CO2 emissions - warranting 23% BIK charges from March onwards.

This front-wheel drive model is 5% more efficient than its predecessor, despite producing the same power, while the front-wheel drive 150hp 2.0-litre diesel version returns 60.1mpg and emits 122g/km. The facelifted Kuga will also be available with 120hp and 150hp versions of Ford's 1.5-litre EcoBoost petrol motor, which both return 45.6mpg and 143g/km, meaning 25% BIK charges.

Along with bolder exterior styling including a new grille, headlights and rear lights, the Kuga also receives an updated interior with a new eight-inch SYNC3 touchscreen media system with larger onscreen buttons, which controls audio, navigation and climate functions and can respond to conversational voice commands. It's also compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay allowing users to link their smartphones to the car seamlessly.

Ford has also given the Kuga a more sophisticated semi-autonomous parking system, which can now steer the car into parking bays alongside other cars as well as those at the side of the road. Meanwhile, the 'Active City Stop' urban collision avoidance system can now stop the car from speeds of up to 31mph if it senses an obstacle ahead.
