The start point for the best source of fleet information

Future of fleet management to stretch beyond vehicles, says Chevin

Date: 19 September 2016   |   Author: Daniel Puddicombe

Fleet management could increasingly incorporate employee mobility data as well as vehicle information because companies are turning towards using 'big data' to meet transport needs, Chevin has claimed.

According to the fleet management software provider, fleets could use this data to improve the utilisation of workforces and manage the workforce like a fleet vehicle.

"As more organisations work to harness so-called 'big data' and integrate it meaningfully into their operations, they may be able to pinpoint savings opportunities that extend well beyond a traditional fleet approach," said Ashley Sowerby, managing director of Chevin. "For example, we have seen instances where, rather than just being handed the keys to a company car, employees are being offered a range of different travel options or some kind of overall mobility allowance."

"This is especially relevant for employees who travel largely within cities between urban areas, where there are other transport solutions readily available - from the train through to car clubs," he added.
