BusinessCar BC50 top 10 leasing firm Hitachi has signed a new six-year deal with infrastructure and support services provider Amey to supply and manage its 8500-strong business-critical fleet.

A team form the lease firm is embedded with Hitachi to provide "continuous consultancy services", and will help manage the fleet of car, light commercial vehicle, heavy goods, ancillary equipment and specialist assets.

"This appointment demonstrates our ability to fund and manage the most complex and mission critical fleets operating in the UK," said Jon Lawes, managing director, Hitachi Capital Vehicle Solutions. "Being entrusted with the management of their entire fleet, including vehicles critical to maintaining parts of the nation's infrastructure, is a great responsibility."

"Amey is one of the largest and most diverse companies working for the public and regulated sectors in the UK, with the ultimate aim of creating better places for people to live, work and travel," Tom Lawless, Amey's fleet and plant director. "To achieve our aims, we need a fleet of specialist vehicles that are provided and managed to the standards of operational safety, compliance adherence and optimum availability that are also fit for purpose when considering required customer outcomes."
