Honda launches new entry-level Civic

Date: 18 April 2016

Honda has updated its Civic lower medium range - ahead of the launch of a brand new model next year - with a new 1.4-litre petrol entry-level version.

The current Civic range will be slimmed down, meaning that this model becomes the most affordable at £18,360 - though savings of £2000 off list prices are likely to be possible for fleets, a Honda spokesperson hinted to BusinessCar.

Unlike the current S entry-level models, the Civic Sport - which features emissions-increasing 17-inch alloy wheels - emits just over 130g/km of CO2 (unlike S model's 129g/km figure), meaning BIK rates of 23%. Buyers will also be able to opt for Honda's 120hp 1.6-litre diesel model, however, which should emit less than 100g/km of CO2, warranting 19% BIK charges.

All Sport models share similarly aggressive styling to the high-performance Civic Type R, with a colour-coded rear spoiler and black cabin roof lining. SE and SR trim levels will also be available above Sport. The new entry-level Civic will be available from May onwards.
