Hyundai Ioniq to cost from under £20,000

Hyundai has announced that its Toyota Prius-rivaling Ioniq model will cost from £19,995 when it goes on sale in October, undercutting its main rival by £3000.
The Ioniq is available with three powertrains - a hybrid, a plug-in hybrid and a fully electric model.
The entry-level SE hybrid model is fitted with DAB, Bluetooth, cruise control and rear parking sensors, while the plusher Premium version - costing from £21,795 - includes LED headlamps, a seven-inch touchscreen, sat-nav and Apple CarPlay and wireless phone charging capabilities.
The top-spec Premium SE hybrid model, meanwhile - priced from £23,595 - features leather seats, a blind spot detection system, front parking cameras and 17" alloy wheels.
The 1.6-litre petrol/electric hybrid emits 79g/km of CO2 and returns 83.1mpg on the official test cycle.
The electric version of the Ioniq, meanwhile, starts from £28,995, excluding the Government's £4500 plug-in car grant, and is due to arrive in the UK next year. The electric model is capable of travelling for up to 174 miles before needing to be recharged.
A plug-in hybrid version of the model is also due to arrive in the UK next year, with prices and specifications set to be announced closer to its on-sale date.

Hyundai also announced that Pod Point is the preferred charging partner for customer charge point installations, as well as points across the Hyundai UK dealer network.
