Vehicle repair company Kwik Fit has doubled the fleet warranty of brake parts fitted at its centres to 24 months/24,000 miles.
Parts included within the extended warranty - which Kwik Fit claims is an industry best - include brake pads, discs, drums and shoes.
Kwik Fit said the move to a longer warranty would help deliver cost savings to the fleet sector. Last year, the firm saw a 35% year-on-year increase in fleet demand for brake inspections, and a 24% rise in the number of replacement brake pads and discs that were fitted.
The company claims that brake components are available off the shelf within an hour, which reduces vehicle downtime.
Kwik Fit added that it expects the longer warranty announcement to trigger further demand for brake inspections and MoTs.
"Our decision to double the warranty on friction brake parts is a clear reflection of Kwik Fit's confidence in the quality of the parts used," said Dan Joyce, UK SMR/MoT business development manager for fleet. "We believe the length of warranty available is an industry best and more extensive than that available through other service outlet on similar parts."
The company currently operates more than 600 service centres and 200 mobile tyre-fitting vehicles.
