Police forces order 1100 Fords in new fleet deal

Date: 12 January 2016   |   Author: Daniel Puddicombe

Police forces from across the country have ordered 1100 Ford vehicles in new fleet deals.

The UK Northern consortium of 22 forces have ordered 680 vehicles - 560 Transits and 120 Kugas - with half of the Transit Customs set to be used as cell vans after being converted by Ford's Special Vehicle Preparation centre.

Meanwhile, the UK's Southern consortium - made up of six fire services and 28 police forces - ordered 200 Transit Customs, 110 Transit Connects, 80 Kugas and 30 Ranger pick-ups.

Ford has also built a one-off police-spec Focus ST TDCi in response to  interest from forces since it went on sale last year.
