The start point for the best source of fleet information

Real-time traffic data coming to Volvos

Date: 03 November 2016   |   Author: Daniel Puddicombe

Connected car service provider Inrix has announced its real-time traffic data will be integrated into a number of Volvo models as part of a new deal.

From this month, Volvo's V40, V40 Cross Country, S60, V60 and XC60 will be equipped with Inrix's real-time and predictive traffic flow information for directions, accident alerts and travel times.

The traffic information is already available across the 90-series model range.

Inrix's data is crowdsourced from its network of 300 million connected vehicles and devices across 40 countries.

Its data previously correctly suggested the August bank holiday weekend would be the most congested for 30 years, while the company's information also found that vans are to blame for increasing congestion on London's roads.

"The global integration of Inrix Traffic into Volvo Cars is a testament to the quality and innovation of our connected car services," said Andreas Hecht, general manager and executive vice-president of automotive at Inrix.
