Revised Skoda Octavia unveiled

Date: 27 October 2016   |   Author: Daniel Puddicombe

Skoda has revealed a facelifted version of its Octavia lower medium model ahead of its UK arrival in early 2017.

Four engines will be offered initially - 115hp 1.0-litre petrol, 150hp 1.4-litre petrol, 115hp 1.6-litre diesel and 150hp 2.0-litre diesel - although efficiency information for the units have not been revealed at this stage.

Visually, the front of the vehicle features a wider appearance, which Skoda says gives the logo more presence.

Inside, the facelifted Octavia features new infotainment systems, with the top-of-the-range Columbus model including a wireless internet hotspot. That model can also be fitted with a SIM card module enabling faster connections to the internet.

Bootspace remains the same (590 litres with the rear seats up in the hatchback and 610 litres in the estate) while there is also an optional electric tailgate.

A customisable key, which allows multiple users to save individual vehicle settings such as radio presets and seat preferences, is a new addition, while the estate features a removable torch in the boot.

New assistance systems for the Octavia, meanwhile, include a trailer assistant, which will take over the steering when the car is slowly reversing while towing. Blind spot detection and rear traffic alert systems are also included and aim to improve the safety of lane changes.
