RMI calls on Government engagement to protect UK automotive industry

Date: 24 October 2016   |   Author: Daniel Puddicombe

The Retail Motor Industry has called on the Government to engage with the automotive industry to prevent any uncertainty following the UK's decision to leave the European Union earlier this year.

The RMI is a body that represents vehicle retailers across the country.

Speaking at the body's annual dinner in London last night (20 October), RMI board member and Independent Garage Association chairman Colin Parlett said the success of the UK's automotive sector could be jeopardised if free access to the European market cannot be granted.

"It is now essential that the Government makes a commitment to outline a clear negotiating position in order to ensure our industry has what it needs to secure its future success," he added.
