Suzuki doubles up as fleet headcount increases and sales rise is targeted

Date: 29 June 2016   |   Author: Hugh Hunston

Suzuki is to double its fleet department headcount and aims to replicate that rate of growth in its share of corporate custom by having sales rise from 10% to 20% by the end of 2018.

Announcing a solus contract-hire deal with Lex Autolease, Dale Wyatt, sales and marketing director of Suzuki UK's automotive division, said: "Our main fleet strategy is to expand our SME footprint through a dealer outreach programme. We signed a contract-hire deal with Lex, which involves an intimate relationship, not least because they have the largest UK SME database."

Wyatt, who forecast that an unprecedented model portfolio expansion programme would result in 50,000 total sales in 2020, added: "We continue to devise out fleet strategy under department manager Andrew Wale and that involves investment in people. The corporate operation's headcount should double to six as we aim for a 20% fleet factor during 2018."

The Vitara and S-cross, which will undergo a major revamp in October, following the introduction of the new Baleno lower medium hatchback, will be the fleet mainstays. Wyatt is hopeful that a new city car SUV, likely to be called Ignis and due early next year, will also contribute to incremental fleet volume.
