Tucson breaks Hyundai record

Date: 21 March 2016

Hyundai's new BusinessCar Award-winning Tucson small off-roader has set a new record for the company, becoming the fastest-selling model the firm has ever launched in the UK by passing 10,000 orders in the first four months of sale.

Launched in October 2015, the new model has exceeded the 8000-order forecast for that period,
with the 1.7 diesel the dominant model, although the firm reports "strong demand" for the 2.0-litre diesel engine.

Meanwhile, Hyundai has confirmed there will be 22 new hybrid or plug-in models coming across itself and sister brand Kia by 2020: two fuel cell, two electric, six plug-in hybrid and 12 hybrids. This kicks off with the Ioniq model late this year that will be the first car on the market with EV, plug-in hybrid and hybrid powertrains.
