Virtual reality 'indicative of future procedure' for Seat fleet handovers

Date: 06 June 2016   |   Author: Daniel Puddicombe

Seat has trialed a fleet handover using virtual reality headsets and Samsung mobile phones to take drivers through the features of vehicles remotely.

The trial took place as marketing agency Blue Square took on 129 Seat Leon hatchbacks as part of a new fleet deal.

The cars were handed over to drivers using a virtual reality headset and a Samsung mobile phone.

The delivery method stemmed from Samsung's ties with Seat and Blue Space, with the latter currently looking after Samsung's in-store marketing, while Seat and Samsung are working together to develop in-car technology systems.

A spokesman told BusinessCar technology is "indicative of how car handovers could be carried out" in the future as the Spainsh car maker "continues to work with customers to deliver vehicles in an innovative way".

Finished in the SE Technology trim level, the 1.6-litre diesel hatchbacks will be used by Blue Square's field sales team.
