Volvo recalls 7000 UK cars

Date: 23 February 2016   |   Author: Daniel Puddicombe

Volvo is recalling 7237 2016 model-year vehicles in the UK after discovering a software fault that can temporarily shut down the engine.

The issue relates to five-cylinder diesel engines in the S60, V60, XC60, V70 and XC70 models built from the middle of 2015.

The software issue can shut down the engine and electrical system while the car is in motion, but Volvo said they would then both restart immediately.

A spokeswoman for Volvo told BusinessCar that letters are being sent to affected vehicle owners, and it would take half an hour for technicians to fix the problem at no cost.
