VW confirms seven-seat Tiguan crossover

Date: 20 December 2016   |   Author: Daniel Puddicombe

Volkswagen has confirmed it will build a seven-seat version of its Tiguan crossover.

Called the Tiguan Allspace, the lengthened model will be revealed at the Detroit motor show on 8 January, and is set to go on sale in the UK next year.

According to VW, the enlarged Tiguan has a wheelbase that's 11cm longer than the standard model, which allows the car to offer more room inside for passengers, and offers greater flexibility over the five-seat model, thanks to a greater variation of seating arrangements.

In 2015, the Tiguan was fleet's third best-selling off-road model, with 12,131 units registered last year, up from 9,116 units in 2014. Overall, it was the 33rd most popular model in terms of registrations.
