Updated Renault Captur shown at Geneva motor show

Date: 07 March 2017   |   Author: Daniel Puddicombe

Updates for the Renault Captur compact crossover have been announced at the Geneva motor show.

Changes are minimal, with most of the updates coming in terms of styling and interior design, while there are also more personalisation options to choose from.

The biggest changes come at the front, with the Captur's adoption of the 'C'-shaped LED headlights that ape much of the rest of the Renault range.

Meanwhile, there's also a larger Renault diamond badge, as well as a chrome strip running across the front grille, plus front and rear skid plates.

Engine and gearbox options remain unchanged.

Renault said the facelifted model has been updated to look like the brand's other crossovers.

Buyers can choose from three new body colours - Desert Orange, Amethyst, and Ocean Blue - while the roof can now also be had in Mercury Silver. In total, there are 36 different combinations of exterior colours to choose from.

A brand new top-of-the-range trim level is also offered - Signature S Nav - with a chrome-detailed grille setting it apart from the rest of the line-up, while inside the model features leather seats, chrome detailing and aluminium pedals.

In addition, all optional technologies on lower spec variants, including blind spot warning, parking sensors and keyless entry, are standard with this variant.

"The Captur was the first model in Renault's new crossover line-up [in 2013]. It was important for us to refresh its external appearance in line with the newer models in the range, the Kadjar and the forthcoming Koleos," said Mario Polla, Renault Captur design project manager. "We also enhanced the quality inside the cabin by replacing injection-moulded plastic with trimmed materials, and the choice of colours and fabrics is now more sophisticated too."

Renault claimed the Captur was the best-selling supermini crossover in Europe last year, with 215,670 units sold.
