All-new MG XS SUV revealed at London motor show

Date: 04 May 2017   |   Author: Daniel Puddicombe

MG has revealed its all-new XS SUV at the London motor show.

According to the Chinese-owned manufacturer, two engine derivatives will be offered, although no further details have been released at this stage.

The company said the model is expected to arrive in dealerships by the end of this year, and the brand claimed it will be priced competitively.

The XS will join the brand's line-up of the MG3 supermini and MG GS SUV. It is likely to share the GS's 166hp 1.5-litre petrol unit.

MG claimed the new model will feature the latest driver technology and in-car infotainment systems. It added that the new model has been "specifically developed to suit market demand for a competitively priced compact SUV".

Further details - including powertrain, trim and equipment information - is set to be announced later this year by the brand.

"The MG XS will be a real game-changer in the compact SUV marketplace. The meaning behind the name is simple - S stands for SUV, X means extra. Featuring state-of-the-art driver technology and innovative design, the new model builds on our growing reputation for capability, performance and quality, positioned at a highly affordable price," said Matthew Cheyne, head of sales and marketing at MG.
