All-new Suzuki Swift revealed

First pictures of the all-new Suzuki Swift hatchback have emerged on the company's global website.
Although the cars shown are only in Japanese specification, the overall design of the car is as it will look when the car goes on sale in the UK later this year. The European-specification car will be unveiled at March's Geneva motor show.
The new car features a much more rounded design language than the much more angular outgoing model, with bulging wheelarches, flowing lines and circular fog lights set deep within the front bumper. There's also a brand-new hexagonal front grille and completely re-shaped headlights.
Although we've only seen the car in Japanese specification thus far, we do know which engines the new car will be available with. There will be the choice of two petrol engines - a 1.2-litre Dualjet four-cylinder engine and a 1.0-litre turbocharged three-cylinder unit.
Both will come with 48V 'mild' hybrid systems that provides extra power under acceleration, using energy that's been recovered under braking.
These Japanese spec cars will come with a safety pack that includes some extra safety kit, such as a Dual Sensor Brake Support (DSBS) system that can automatically stop the car, while it can also switch the headlights between high and low beam when necessary. It also includes adaptive cruise control, while Japanese versions can also be head with the choice of front and four-wheel drive. As yet, it hasn't been confirmed as to whether or not any of these features will be available on UK-specification cars.
When it arrives in the UK, the new Suzuki Swift will sit alongside the Baleno in the model range, but is likely to offer a sportier, more stylish and more 'emotional' proposition than the practicality-led Baleno with which the Swift shares a platform.
Full details of the European-specification Suzuki Swift will be announced at this year's Geneva motor show in March.
