BMW signs new fleet deal with British Superbike Championship

Date: 23 March 2017   |   Author: Daniel Puddicombe

BMW has signed a three-year deal to supply the course, safety and medical car fleet to the British Superbike Championship.

The German manufacturer takes over from Nissan - which previously provided both cars and LCVs - and will supply nine cars to the motorcycle series.

Safety car duties will be shared between two i8 sports cars and an M2 coupe this season, while the medical team will be equipped with an X5 and two X3 M units for rapid responses.

The remainder of the fleet - a 5 Series GT, X5 and 4 Series Cabrio - will be used for the podium presentation and will also used to transport VIPs and race directors throughout the season, which starts on 31 March at Donington Park, Leicestershire

In addition, two S1000 RR motorbikes will be used for media activities and official presentations.

"I am delighted to welcome BMW UK as a premium partner to the championship. We continue to strive to provide the highest standards of organisation and presentation for BSB events and this new association with BMW will enhance this," said British Superbike Championship series director Stuart Higgs.

The championship will also use six vans, supplied by Vauxhall, and you can read about the British firm's fleet deal on our sister website, What Van?
