The start point for the best source of fleet information

Driving licence checking course launched

Date: 01 June 2017   |   Author: Daniel Puddicombe

Driving licence verification service Licence Check has launched a new qualification aimed at fleet managers.

Run in association with Junction 17 Defensive Driver Training, the course is designed to allow those working in fleet management to access different categories, entitlements and regulations surrounding the licensing of drivers and the processes for checking a licence.

It is regulated by the Government-run Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqual) and is professionally recognized, meaning it counts towards initiatives such as the Investors in People scheme.

Licence Check estimates the online-only course should take around six hours, with candidates able to complete it around their own work and lifestyle commitments. There are also opportunities to collect evidence of jobs undertaken in the workplace.

The course costs £95 plus VAT; however, there is an option for up to 12 employees to partake in the course simultaneously, which costs between £250 and £350 plus VAT.

Richard Brown, managing director of Licence Check said: "We are delighted to be working with Junction 17 Defensive Driver Training to launch this new qualification.  At the end of the course, successful candidates will have a good grasp of the reasons why they should check the driver's licence.  For example, they will know what to look for in a genuine document and understand what the information shown on the licence means, and will be able to carry out a check on this and understand the wider implications in terms of risk for the business."

"The qualification will equip managers and administrators with the knowledge and skills to confidently and competently tackle what should be the absolute and fundamental first check for anyone employing, or allowing people, to drive on behalf of a business," he added.

Peter Coppenhall, company director of Junction 17 Defensive Driver Training added: "We are very excited to be offering this new qualification. Each candidate will be fully resourced and have the full support from their allocated assessor and centre administration team."
