Facelifted Fiat 500L revealed

Date: 24 May 2017   |   Author: Daniel Puddicombe

Fiat has revealed a facelifted version of its 500L supermini-MPV ahead of its arrival in September.

Three variants will now be offered - Urban, Cross and Wagon, with Urban being the entry-level model, Cross having extra ground clearance and Wagon the seven-seat version.

Two petrol engines will be available - a 95hp 1.4-litre unit and a more powerful 120hp variant, while two diesel powertrains (a 95hp 1.3-litre unit and a 120hp 1.6-litre engine) will also be offered.

Efficiency information has not been revealed at this stage, but Fiat claimed the powertrains "combine optimal performance with impressive fuel economy."

Exterior changes include a revised front bumper and a chromed lower grille, while Fiat has added chromed strips along the side of the car "to convey toughness."

Fiat claimed the interior of the facelifted 500L is completely new, including an updated dashboard to give a more high-tech feel.

Equipment for the more rugged Cross includes different bumpers and skidplates, 17-inch wheels, raised ground clearance by 25mm and a seven-inch touchscreen media system.

The Urban and Wagon 500Ls meanwhile offer two trim levels - Pop Star and Lounge. Standard kit includes air-con, cruise control, a five-inch touchscreen system, a USB port, LED daytime running lights and 16-inch alloy wheels.

The more luxurious Lounge trim adds a fixed glass roof, chromed inserts, a larger seven-inch touchscreen, two USB ports and rear parking sensors.
