Peugeot has revealed a facelifted version of its 308 lower medium model ahead of its UK arrival in September.

Visually, the 308 introduces a new front grille, while a new bumper is present and the rear light design has been tweaked.

According to the brand, the three-cylinder petrol engine has undergone an upgrade, with the French manufacturer claiming to reduce emissions and fuel consumption figures, though no further information is available at this stage.

The facelifted 308 also introduces a new 130hp diesel engine, but again, no further information is available at this stage.

Inside, the 308 boasts several in-car connectivity options, with Mirror Screen - a system which duplicates a user's smartphone on the vehicle touchscreen - MirrorLink, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard.

The TomTom-based sat-nav now has 3D-mapping and real-time traffic monitoring capabilities, while the French firm said the car's safety assistance systems have been improved.

"The new Peugeot 308 offers the complete package for car buyers, fusing eye-catching styling, the latest in-car connectivity and up-to-the-minute powertrains," said David Peel, managing director of Peugeot UK. "Across the board, we've enhanced the 308's personality with a strong and high-tech look, and that feeling has been applied inside bringing seamless connectivity, as well as driver assistance systems that help to take the stress out of driving."
