Honda Civic to be priced from £18,235

Date: 19 January 2017   |   Author: Daniel Puddicombe

The Honda Civic will cost from £18,235 when it arrives on forecourts in March, the Japanese manufacturer has confirmed.

Just two engines will be offered from launch - a 129hp three-cylinder petrol, and a 182hp four-pot petrol.

Of interest to fleets will be the lower-powered engine fitted with an automatic transmission and in S and SE trim levels, which emits 106g/km of CO2, placing it in the 20% 2017/18 BIK bracket.

However, the same engine fitted with different transmission and trim level options can emit up to 117g/km of CO2.

The more powerful engine emits 133g/km of CO2, placing it in the 25% 2017/18 BIK band.

Honda also cited residual value figures from industry experts Cap HPI, which claimed the Civic will hold up to 37% of its value after three years and 60,000 miles - a 9% improvement compared with the outgoing model's RVs.

The Japanese manufacturer claimed this puts the new model "well ahead of many of its key competitors", and underlines confidence in the reliability, value for money and desirability of the model.

"As a brand we are making big strides in improving residual values across our range. This will make our cars even more affordable and lower the total cost of ownership for private and business buyers," said Phil Webb, head of cars at Honda. "The launch of the advanced and sporty new Civic is a major milestone for Honda in the UK and so we are delighted that Cap agrees with our own assessment of this new car."
