Hubio fleet launches 3G-enabled dashcam

Telematics company Hubio Fleet has launched a new dashcam and tracking unit.
The launch of the 3G-enabled camera comes as the firm has "completely upgraded" its fleet manager portal.
According to Hubio, the unit combines the benefits of a telematics unit with those of a dashcam, which saves space in the vehicle as fleets won't need to install both a 'black box' telematics unit and a dashcam.
The unit can track vehicles, monitor driver behaviour and record footage should an incident occur.
Unlike some other dashcams, footage is uploaded to the portal via the cloud over a private 3G network, negating the need to retrieve footage from a memory card, thus speeding up the time it takes to view an incident.
The camera also has a panic button that records seven seconds of footage before and after it is pressed; the footage is then sent to the manager. Hubio said the button is particularly useful for recording and reporting suspicious behaviour or dangerous driving by other road users.
Changes to the firm's fleet manager portal include an increased number of driver coaching tools to address persistent offenders, a customisable toolbar allowing fleet managers to access reports and a new mobile app enabling managers to keep an eye on the fleet while they are away from their desk.
"Our 3G unit has been developed to provide a powerful range of tracking services with video imagery to the fleet manager while being quick and easy to install," said Russell Olive, Hubio Fleet's general manager. "With the majority of larger fleets being self-insured, the camera plays a vital role in providing filmed assets to support the First Notification of Loss."
Olive added: "The assets help support and speed up taking control of the vehicle recovery and repair, which is vital in helping keep incident management costs down. Video footage can also support fleets if a claim reaches court."
