Hyundai i30 N hot hatch priced from £24,995

Date: 27 September 2017   |   Author: Daniel Puddicombe

Hyundai has confirmed its i30 N hot hatch will be priced from £24,995 when it goes on sale on 4 January.

The i30 N is the brand's first performance model and is marketed under the N sub-brand, which is engineered by the firm's High Performance Vehicle Division. The N moniker stands for both Namyang - Hyundai's global R&D Centre in Korea - and for the Nurburgring, home of Hyundai's European Test Centre where the i30 N was further developed and tested.

The vehicle is offered in two versions - i30 N and i30 N Performance. Standard kit includes LED head and tail lights, adaptive cruise control, an eight-inch touchscreen sat-nav unit with Android Auto and Apple Carplay and 18-inch alloy wheels.

Priced from £27,995, the i30 N Performance adds 19-inch alloys, an additional 25hp, an electronic limited-slip differential, leather seats and an active variable exhaust.

The car is powered by a 250/275hp 2.0-litre petrol engine. Emissions are rated at 159/163g/km, which equates to the model slipping into the 30/30% BIK band depending on the version offered.

Six exterior colours are offered - Clean Slate, Polar White, Micron Grey, Phantom Black, Engine Red and Performance Blue, which is inspired by the firm's touring and rally cars.

"We are incredibly excited about the arrival of Hyundai's first high-performance model under the N line-up," said Tony Whitehorn, president and CEO of Hyundai UK. "As well as the great value that our customers expect, the i30 N offers advanced technology and a high level of driver customisation - meaning it can play the role of comfort-oriented commuter as well as race track-ready performance car."
