Hyundai joins Go Ultra Low

Date: 21 March 2017   |   Author: Daniel Puddicombe

Hyundai is the latest manufacturer to join the Government and industry-backed Go Ultra Low campaign to highlight the benefits of clean vehicles.

The Korean manufacturer joins Audi, BMW, Kia, Nissan, Renault, Toyota and VW in the consortium of vehicle makers which aims to raise awareness of ultra-low emission vehicles in the UK.

Go Ultra Low claimed that 2016 marked a record year for electric car registrations with 36,907 units hitting the UK's roads - an increase of 29% on 2015's total - while the green body has predicted there will be more than 100,000 ultra-low emission cars registered by the middle of this year.

Hyundai's UK boss, Tony Whitehorn, said becoming part of the campaign "demonstrates how seriously Hyundai takes low-emission motoring".

"Hyundai joins the Go Ultra Low campaign at an exciting time for the electric car industry, as the variety and capabilities of ultra-low emission vehicles make them an increasingly attractive option for UK motorists," said Poppy Welch, head of Go Ultra Low. "2016 was an unprecedented year for plug-in vehicle registrations as more and more motorists realise the cost-saving and environmental benefits of driving an ultra-low emission car. We expect this year to be better still with even more new electric vehicles coming to market."
