Industry pioneer Freddie Aldous dies

Date: 21 December 2017   |   Author: Sean Keywood

Freddie Aldous, the honorary life president of the British Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association (BVRLA), has died at the age of 89.

Mr Aldous, who will be remembered as a pioneer and innovator in the vehicle rental and leasing industry, played a pivotal role in the development and operation of the BVRLA and the European Car and Truck Rental Association.

Serving as the BVRLA's chairman between 1971 and 1973, and its president between 1992 and 2004, Mr Aldous helped the organisation grow from small beginnings into the large trade association it is today.

BVRLA chief executive Gerry Keaney said: "Freddie was respected and loved across the industry, and will be sorely missed. He played a key role in both the growth of the UK vehicle rental industry and the trade body that represents it.

"Across five decades his hard work, advice and guidance helped the association meet countless challenges and played a key role in building the modern, thriving trade body we have today."
