Lancashire wins bid to install 150 charging points

Chargemaster will install 150 new charging points across Lancashire, following a successful bid by Lancashire County Council to the Department for Transport's Highway Maintenance Challenge Fund.
The charging giant will provide 18 of its Ultracharge rapid chargers and 66 dual-socket fast chargers, for use with a standard Type 2 public charging cable.
The first charging points will be installed in early 2018 and will be operated on POLAR, the firms EV charging network, which already has over 5,500 charging points nationwide.
David Martell, CEO of Chargemaster, said: "It's fantastic that we have been selected by Lancashire County Council to help make it easier to own and drive an electric vehicle in the county, by increasing its charging infrastructure. There are already over 1,000 electric vehicle drivers in Lancashire and that number is expected to grow considerably over the coming years. We are committed to ensuring that electric vehicle drivers have access to charging points right across the country, so we will be improving coverage across the region."
