New Ford Fiesta to be priced from £12,715

Date: 06 March 2017   |   Author: Daniel Puddicombe

Ford has confirmed its next-generation Fiesta supermini will be priced from £12,715 when it arrives in the UK this spring.

Several trim options will be offered, starting at Style and continuing through Zetec and Titanium to the high-end B&O Play series, luxury Vignale option and ST-Line models.

The latter three variants will be available in the summer, while further information about the Active crossover and range-topping ST model (separate from ST-Line) will follow at a later date, the brand said.

It will be the first time the Fiesta will be offered with a Vignale option, and it joins the existing range of Mondeo, S-Max, Kuga and Edge variants.

Ford claimed the Fiesta will be§ equipped with the most sophisticated range of driver assistance systems on a small car sold in Europe, and said the car offers the same number - 15 - of driver-assist technologies as the larger Edge SUV.

The car will be equipped with Ford's pre-collision assist with pedestrian detection function, which can detect people who are in or near the road at night using the car's headlights.

Also included is the company's active parking assistance function which can help drivers to park hands-free, while the technology now applies the brakes if drivers do not respond to warnings or if a collision is imminent.

"Ford's 40-year reign [at the top of] of the UK car market began in 1976 when the Fiesta was first launched.  Since then Fiesta has been firmly established as part of the fabric of Britain - and remained at the top of the sales charts for the last eight years," said Andy Barratt, chairman and managing director, of Ford of Britain.  "With so many new Fiesta faces coming this year, including B&O Play Editions for music lovers and the luxurious Vignale execution, it's set to stay at number one."
