Red Bull takes on 42 Seat Leons in new fleet deal

Date: 30 May 2017   |   Author: Daniel Puddicombe

Seat has signed a deal with energy drinks company Red Bull to supply 42 Leon hatchbacks to its sales team.

The vehicles - powered by Seat's 115hp 1.0-litre petrol engine and finished in SE Technology trim level - are Red Bull's first-ever petrol fleet vehicles.

Red Bull said it took the Leons on after being impressed with the car's combination of technology, affordability and whole-life costs.

The vehicles were handed over using virtual reality - a headset and a Samsung smartphone - to take drivers through the features of their cars.

On top of the standard specification, bespoke features have been fitted to Red Bull's cars, including a rear-view camera, electric folding mirrors, a tiredness recognition system and heated front seats.

According to Red Bull, the cars are expected to accrue 20,000 miles a year thanks to the sales team making daily visits to retailers.

"When looking at our next fleet vehicle, we needed to make sure it fitted the bill as a fun, safe, comfortable and practical car, with technology to match, and the Leon ticks all those boxes and more for our young drivers," said David Oliver, procurement manager at Red Bull. "The fact that our incoming Leons are effectively costing the company and employees less than our outgoing vehicle is the icing on the cake."

Peter McDonald, Seat head of fleet and business sales, added: "With the Leon only just hitting roads, it's a real statement of intent to have taken a number of significant orders already with a competitive fleet. The car has always been a leader in the segment, and the new Leon plays to our strengths even more; delivering a dynamic, practical car laden with technology at a very affordable price."
