Aston Barclay adopts Alexa voice technology

Date: 11 December 2018   |   Author: Sean Keywood

Auction firm Aston Barclay has begun sharing its programme with buyers through the Amazon Alexa virtual assistant.

Working via the Alexa smart speaker and the downloadable Alexa app, it responds to the command 'Alexa flash briefing' by announcing auction activity at Aston Barclay's Chelmsford, Prees Heath, Westbury, Leeds and Donington Park sites over the next 24-hour period.

The firm says the innovation, which it believes is a first for the remarketing industry, makes it easier for buyers to plan their days and their stock sourcing requirements.

Aston Barclay group IT director Stewart Ford said: "Voice recognition is becoming an important channel to access information in your house, your car and office; and we need to be mindful of adapting our technology to enable customers to engage with us in this way.

"It's a bit of fun, but it also plays a major part in our digital technology testing before rolling out to customers."
