BT launches EV company car scheme

Date: 20 November 2018   |   Author: Sean Keywood

BT has launched its first dedicated electric vehicle (EV) company car scheme.

According to the firm, the new scheme, which is supported by its BT Fleet Solutions business, will help move it towards a target of net zero emissions by 2045.

It says this has partly been made possible by the introduction of an advisory electricity rate for EVs by HMRC.

The scheme is available to more than 3,000 drivers across the business, and supported by training for Fleet Solutions engineers, who have been given a more detailed knowledge of EV diagnostics and repair.

BT Fleet Solutions managing director Henry Brace said: "The move to pure EV is one we have been seeing for some time with the number of staff who drive diesel vehicles dropping in favour of more uptake in plug-in hybrids.

"The move to pure EV is the natural progression of this, and we're delighted to support the wider group in their uptake of alternative fuelled vehicles.

"BT, as a forward-looking technology business, has had an internal community of alternative fuel vehicle supporters for some time who will no doubt be front of the line to secure their EV models. But we believe EVs will be popular with all of our company car base."
