SUV-inspired Ford Focus Active goes on sale

Date: 23 November 2018   |   Author: Sean Keywood

Ford has begun taking orders for the SUV-inspired Active version of its Focus small family car.

The new model is available in hatchback and estate bodystyles, with prices starting at £21,900.

Its introduction follows that of the Fiesta Active and Ka+ Active earlier this year.

Compared with the regular Focus, the ride height of the Active has been raised by 30mm at the front and 34mm at the rear.

It gets distinctive front and rear bumper designs; silver finish front and rear skid plates; a dark grille with dark surround; and bodystyle mouldings that flow from the front bumper lip, through the wheel arches and side profile to the rear, combining to create a more rugged appearance.

Inside, there's a leather steering wheel and gear knob, bright elements on the dashboard and door panels, and Active scuff plates, while high-bolstered seats are trimmed with Active cloth featuring blue stitching.

The model features two new selectable drive modes in addition to the normal, sport and eco settings seen with other Focuses: a slippery mode, designed for reduced-grip surfaces such as mud, snow and ice, and trail mode, designed for soft surfaces such as sand.

Two trim options are available - Active and Active X.

Four engines are on offer - a 1.0-litre, 125hp petrol; a 1.5-litre, 150hp petrol; a 1.5-litre, 120hp diesel; and a 2.0-litre, 150hp diesel.

Official combined fuel economy and CO2 emissions figures are 58.9mpg and 107g/km for the 125hp petrol; 53.2mpg and 121g/km for the 150hp petrol; 78.5mpg and 93g/km for the 120hp diesel; and 62.8mpg and 114g/km for the 150hp diesel.

The first deliveries are expected in January.
