Aston Barclay announces new appointments

Date: 10 April 2018   |   Author: Sean Keywood

Remarketing firm Aston Barclay has announced two new appointments.

Rowland Whittington has been named as project manager for the firm and Sam Leigh has been appointed as business development manager at its Donington Park Mega Centre.

Whittington (pictured) will focus on property projects and operational efficiency across the group as it enters the next stage of its growth plans, reporting to CFO and commercial director John Crichton.

Whittington's first job will be to manage a £1m redevelopment of the firm's Chelmsford site.

He will also lead expansion plans at Aston Barclay's Prees Heath site and increase efficiencies within its transport fleet.

Whittington has considerable project management experience from his 31 years as a systems engineer in the Royal Navy, and seven years working for Cox Automotive in business improvement and as general manager of Manheim Wimbledon.

Leigh will be responsible for growing relationships with vendors and buyers at Aston Barclay's 18-acre Donington site, reporting to centre manager Zaiga Jinkinson.

Leigh has worked in the remarketing industry for three years and was part of the team that set up and launched the new Donington site.

He is said to have played an integral part in setting up a new buyer services team and recruiting additional buyers.

Crichton said: "As we continue to expand it is vital we make all areas of our business as efficient as possible, particularly the physical auction infrastructure and high asset investment areas such as transport.

"Rowland has a strong track record in business improvement and we are pleased to welcome him to the team.

"As for Sam he has the right DNA to work at Aston Barclay and has built excellent relationships with vendors and buyers since joining the Donington team, showing dedication, determination and the perfect Aston Barclay attitude."
