Audi A7 Sportback range gains new diesel engine

Date: 27 June 2018   |   Author: Sean Keywood

Audi has made a new entry-level engine option available with its A7 Sportback executive coupe.

The new 3.0-litre diesel engine produces 231hp, with official combined fuel economy of 50.4mpg and CO2 emissions of 147g/km.

Equipped with the new engine, the A7 Sportback is capable of accelerating from 0-62mph in 6.5 seconds and has a top speed of 155mph.

The new engine sits below the already available 3.0-litre, 286hp diesel and 3.0-litre, 340hp petrol engines in the range.

Like those engines, the new unit comes paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system, which allows the car to turn off its engine and coast at speeds between 34 and 99mph, and also allows the stop-start function to activate from 13mph.

Cars with the new engine come with an eight-speed automatic gearbox, the same one that accompanies the more powerful diesel engine.

The whole range comes with four-wheel drive.

Prices for the A7 Sportback with the new engine start at £52,240 for cars in entry-level Sport trim, rising to £55,140 for S Line trim.

Standard equipment with Sport trim includes sat-nav, Audi's Virtual Cockpit instrument display, a rear-view camera, autonomous emergency braking, a lane departure warning system, and front and rear LED lighting.

S Line adds 20in alloy wheels, up from 19in with Sport trim, along with sport suspension, and HD Matrix LED lights incorporating a coming and leaving home animation.
