Facelifted Kia Sportage revealed

Date: 25 May 2018   |   Author: Sean Keywood

Kia has unveiled a revised version of its Sportage SUV, the first model available with the firm's new diesel mild-hybrid powertrain.

The new system pairs a 2.0-litre diesel engine with a 48V battery, and is said to reduce CO2 emissions by up to 4% under the upcoming new WLTP emissions test.

Elsewhere in the range, Kia has replaced the previously available 1.7-litre diesel engine with a new 1.6-litre unit.

This is offered with power outputs of 115hp or 136hp, with the latter also available with four-wheel drive and a seven-speed automatic transmission.

As part of the facelift, the Sportage has been given new front and rear bumpers, and redesigned front and rear lights.

It is available with new 16in, 17in and 18in alloy wheel designs, and options including chrome sill trim, metallic skid plates and five new paint colours.

Cars specced with GT-Line trim get a gloss-black, hot-stamped radiator grille, a gloss black and silver skid plate, dark chrome inserts on the side sills and rear tailgate, and redesigned 19in alloy wheels.

Inside, the revised Sportage gets a new steering wheel and a revised instrument cluster, as well as new black-and-grey two-tone upholstery.

GT-Line cars are available with new black-and-grey two-tone leather seats or optional black leather with red accents.

Driver assistance technology with the new Sportage includes smart cruise control with stop and go, an around-view monitor and a driver attention warning system.

Full UK specifications, along with prices and an on-sale date, are yet to be confirmed.
