Date: 10 January 2018   |   Author: Sean Keywood

Kia has launched a new version of its Picanto city car featuring crossover-inspired styling.

The Picanto X-Line, on sale now, with prices starting from £12,595, features SUV-style bumpers with metal-look front and rear skid plates, and increased ground clearance.

Standard equipment includes a 7in touchscreen display with sat-nav, along with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity.

Autonomous emergency braking and hill start assist are also included, along with cruise control with speed limiter, automatic air-conditioning and keyless entry.

Other visual tweaks on the X-Line include grille and fog lamp surrounds with lime green highlights, and black cladding around the side sills and wheel arches.

Also included are twin exhaust outlets, 16in alloy wheels, and projection headlights with LED daytime running lights and fog lamps.

On the inside, there's lime green stitching on the steering wheel, gear lever gaiter and armrests, and faux leather upholstery.

The X-Line is only available with a 1.25-litre petrol engine producing 83hp, paired with either a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission, both front-wheel drive only.

With the manual, the car achieves combined fuel economy figures of 61.4mpg and CO2 emissions of 106g/km, while the figures for the automatic are 52.3mpg and 124g/km.

Prices start at £12,595 for the manual and £13,245 for the auto.
