Mazda CX-5 range refresh includes engine and safety improvements

Mazda has announced updates to its CX-5 SUV range.
Among the changes are tweaks to the 2.2-litre diesel engine, which is now available in 150hp and 184hp forms - the latter up from the 175hp version which topped the range previously.
Design alterations have been made to the engine including changes to water flow management helping it to warm up quicker, which Mazda says will reduce emissions and help fuel economy.
The CX-5 is also available with a 2.0-litre 165hp petrol engine, which in another new development is now available with a six-speed automatic gearbox.
Mazda has also added extra safety equipment as standard across the CX-5 range, including radar cruise control, blind spot monitoring with rear cross traffic alert, autonomous emergency braking, automatic high beam control and lane keep assist with lane departure warning.
The optional safety pack on range-topping Sport Nav+ trim now also includes a 360 degree camera and adaptive LED headlights.
Available in Sport Nav+ or entry-level SE-L Nav+ trims, the updated CX-5 goes on sale from 31 August.
Prices start from £24,795 for a two-wheel drive manual petrol SE-L Nav+, and rise to £34,395 for a four-wheel drive 184hp diesel Sport Nav+ model.
